Remember this awful restoration job from a couple of years ago? Sadly, some 14th
century frescos of the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi have been over-restored as well, compromising original works by Giotto, Simone Martini and Pietro Lorenzetti, among others.

More sad, damaged art news: ISIS stormed the Nineveh Museum in Iraq a few weeks ago, and destroyed 3,000 year-old Assyrian sculptures—and as if that wasn’t bad enough, they videotaped the entire thing.
